Remember the old IBM ThinkPad World Time active desktop background that came preinstalled with older ThinkPads? It is quite difficult to find nowadays, but I managed to get a copy. Seeing is believing, so check out the video for all information!
The Active Desktop was an older feature and requires Win98/ME/2000/XP. It is not functional on any newer Windows. However, you can test some of its functionality it in a modern browser by loading the html file.
The World Time Active Desktop contains a world map background image in a variety of resolutions and aspect ratios. There are two distinctive active feature: cities with its local time and a shifting day and night cycle. You can edit the files to include more cities if you like.
How to get? The installation is pretty simple, just set the html file as the background image. You may have to enable the Active Desktop feature before, but it was enabled by default in my machine. If you have trouble check out the video.
